Toronto, Ontario-based BadBadNotGood produces melodic themes that sail between 1970s soul-jazz, alternative hip-hop and experimental electronics. The group initially gained attention in early 2010s playing jazz covers of hip-hop tracks by the likes of Odd Future Wolf's Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) and MF Doom. This concept was carried during the first two albums, BBNG (2011) and BBNG2 (2012), featuring songs by Kanye West, My Bloody Valentine and Feist, until they decide to balance this winning formula with their own original themes, as happened in IV. (2016), with the collaboration of Kaytranada and Kendrick Lamar.
